Intelligent IoT platform that unlocks business insights from your global device network. A fully managed service to easily and securely connect, manage, and ingest data from globally dispersed devices.
Cloud IoT Core, Google’s fully managed service for connecting, managing and ingesting data from IoT devices, is now out of beta and generally available. Google envisions the service, which launched in public beta last September, as the first entry point for IoT data into its cloud. Once the data has been ingested, users can use Cloud IoT Core to push data to Google’s cloud databases, analytics tools, serverless platform and machine learning services.
Before jumping into a sample architecture and demo we built at Leverege, let’s examine what Cloud IoT Core actually offers and when you might use it. Cloud IoT Core gives enterprises a fully-managed solution for securely connecting and monitoring/managing those devices globally. This means that devices can connect to the cloud via IoT Core, instead of being processed by a gateway/another platform and having it forward the data.
One feature the company stresses is that Cloud IoT Core is able to support data “from millions of globally dispersed devices.” Like similar services, Cloud IoT Core supports the standard MQTT and HTTP protocols for talking to devices.
Google Cloud IoT is a set of fully managed and integrated services that allow you to easily and securely connect, manage, and ingest IoT data from globally dispersed devices at a large scale, process and analyze/visualize that data in real time, and implement operational changes and take actions as needed.
Secure device connection and management:
Cloud IoT Core is a fully managed service that allows you to easily and securely connect, manage, and ingest data from millions of globally dispersed devices. Cloud IoT Core, in combination with other services on Google Cloud IoT platform, provides a complete solution for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing IoT data in real time to support improved operational efficiency.
Google Cloud IoT is a comprehensive set of integrated services that help you unlock business insights in real time from data across your globally dispersed devices. Device data captured by Cloud IoT Core gets published to Cloud Pub/Sub for downstream analytics.
Make informed decisions at Global Scale:
Cloud IoT Core, using Cloud Pub/Sub underneath, can aggregate dispersed device data into a single global system that integrates seamlessly with Google Cloud data analytics services. Use your IoT data stream for advanced analytics, visualizations, machine learning and more to help you improve operational efficiency, anticipate problems, and build rich models that better describe and optimize your business.
Securely connect your existing device network:
Securely connect a few or millions of your globally dispersed devices through protocol endpoints that use automatic load balancing and horizontal scaling to ensure smooth data ingestion under any condition. Cloud IoT Core supports the standard MQTT and HTTP protocols, so you can use your existing devices with minimal firmware changes. Google Cloud IoT Core runs on Google’s serverless infrastructure, which scales automatically in response to real-time changes and adheres to stringent industry-standard security protocols that protect your business data.
Get a new level of insight into the operational efficiency of your devices, and manage global devices and carry out firmware updates. Google Cloud IoT platform supports a wide variety of embedded operating systems, works seamlessly with Android Things, and provides out-of-box support for devices from leading manufacturers like Intel and Microchip.
Google’s serverless Cloud IoT platform eliminates the need to build and maintain costly infrastructure for your IoT data analysis. Connect easily to the cloud and accommodate all your globally dispersed devices using Cloud IoT Core’s protocol bridge with automatic loading balancing and horizontal scaling. Ensure secure device connections with industry-standard protocols and lower your total cost of ownership with no capex or ongoing maintenance required.
